TerraMaster D5-300 Quick Installation Guide




1.       This is the TerraMaster D5-300, a 5-Bay RAID Storage. 

2.       Please take the product out from the box packaging before starting.

3.       Items in the box include: 1 set of the product, 1 power cord, 1 USB cable, a few screws and 1 quick guide booklet.

4.       You could install 2.5 inch SATA hard drive, 3.5 inch SATA hard drive or 2.5 inch SSD into the product.

5.       Please pull out the hard drive tray from the product before the installation of the hard drive.

6.       Use screws to fasten the hard drive to the tray.

7.       Insert the hard drive tray into the product along the track.

8.       Install the remaining hard drives you wish to include using the above steps.

9.       The computer might not be able to detect the newly installed hard drives that had been installed on other devices before. If this happens, please initialize and format the hard drive on your computer and try again.

10.   Connect one end of the USB cable to the product and the other end to the computer.

11.   Connect the Power Adapter to the product.

12.   Press the power button on the faceplate to power on the product. Now, the hardware installation is complete.

13.   Please download the free RAID Manager software from the official website of TerraMaster and use the software to create RAID. The software is available for Windows and Mac. Please download accordingly on your needs. 

14.   Install and run the RAID Manager on your computer.

15.   Please choose “Basic Mode” on the main menu of the RAID Manager and click on “Basic RAID Setting”.

16.   Please choose your desired RAID type and click on “Apply”. The factory default RAID type is “Single Disk”.

17.   It takes about 1 minute to create an RAID.

18.   After the RAID is created, please initialize it on your computer.

19.   If using a Windows operating system, please search for “Computer Management” to initialize the RAID.

20.   Click on “Storage”.

21.   Then click on “Disk Management”.

22.   Please find the unallocated disk on the menu, which is the TerraMaster RAID that has not been initialized.

23.   Use the right mouse button to click on the disk, and click on “Initialize Disk” on the drop-down menu that appears.

24.   Please complete the settings on the “Initialize Disk” menu and click on “OK” to start the initialization. Please note: When choosing the partition style, choose the GPT partition style. Otherwise, the maximum capacity of the partition is only 2TB.

25.   After initialization, please use the right mouse button to click on the unallocated disk and then click “New Simple Volume” on drop-down menu that appears, to establish the volume for the RAID.

26.   The initialization of the RAID is complete after establishing the volume.

27.   If you want to initialize the RAID on a computer with Mac operating system, please search for “Disk Utility” on desktop.

28.   Look for a new disk in the “External” menu. This disk is the TerraMaster RAID that has not been initialized.

29.   Please select the disk and click on “Erase”.

30.   Please complete the setting and click on “Erase”.

31.   The initialization of RAID is fully complete after erasing.

32.   Now, the Terramaster D5-300 is ready at your service.
